How I Can Support You

 What to expect

Seeking out support for therapy can be confusing, anxiety provoking and overwhelming. Let me help you in the process whether it’s your first time or you are getting back into it. When we first meet my intention is to learn your story and explore what areas of your life you are wanting to improve. As we determine that I am the right therapist for you, we can work on developing agreed-upon goals for treatment to ensure we are focused on areas that are important to you and that will bring you the most benefit. In the event I cannot provide you with the services you are seeking or wish to look into other options, I am more than happy to assist in finding you the right support. As a therapist my goal is to work collaboratively with each client as a team and help guide clients through their own process.

Telehealth

Often it is difficult to find time to step into an office for therapy and that should not be a barrier for anyone who desires improving their quality of life. Telehealth is a way to connect remotely either through voice call or video chatting to get support with managing low risk symptoms of anxiety and depression.

* Calls will be conducted under a HIPPA compliant application to ensure confidentiality. High risk clients will not qualify for Telehealth services and will be encouraged to seek out in person support. Please schedule a consultation to learn more.

Individual Therapy

When it comes to individual therapy I use a strength based approach using evidenced based practices from various modalities to tailor treatment to the needs of the client. My areas of focus primarily include severe trauma, anxiety, depression, disordered eating and other mental health related issues. Depending on the age of the client, that will determine treatment approaches which we can discuss in further detail through a free consultation or scheduled intake session.

Family Therapy

Family dynamics can be difficult but getting the right support does not have to be. Often it can be helpful to work with a neutral party to support your family with improving overall functioning. When working with families, I work help increase better communication skills, help family members voice their thoughts and feelings effectively and ensure balance. My approach is to focus on the family system as a whole and help identify problem areas that negatively impact the family system as well as identify strengths to build on. As treatment continues I may refer family members to seek out their own personal therapy in the event there are additional issues that cannot be addressed in family therapy.

Parent Coaching

Parenting today has more challenges than ever with the rise in technology, substance use, increased stress with school, and many more just to name a few. Often I have found that many parents have their own set of beliefs and parenting approaches, which can be confusing for children and can create challenges with co-parenting. Additionally, when children are living between separated or divorced parents, or perhaps living with relative caregivers this can also create challenges with parenting . In a coaching role my goal is to support parents in determining what their goals are for parenting their children, increase insight into the ineffective parenting tools being used at this time, and not only develop skill sets to increase a positive parent/ child relationship, but also to improve the relationship between parents.

Individualized Education Program (IEP) Support

504 Plan Support

When students are struggling at school with their educational needs, peers, teachers and other school related figures it can be helpful to have a mental health professional for support. When invited to attend an IEP meeting I can provide support and education on how to best support a student from a mental health stand point. Additionally I am able to provide a mental health diagnosis as well as support caregivers with advocating for their child’s educational needs.

Student Success Coaching

School can be overwhelming at any age, and there are many tools to help with organization skills and managing stress and anxiety when it comes to being effective and efficient. When coaching students to be successful we will be working on developing mindsets, identifying barriers, creating organizational plans, time management and more.
